Leland "Lee" James Sedlacek, 87, of Cedar Rapids, danced his last dance on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at The Gardens of Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. The family requests guests to wear Packers and Iowa Hawkeye attire for visitation. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 24, 2024, at St. Ludmila Catholic Church. Burial in Czech National Cemetery.
Leland was born on September 7, 1937, in Tama County, the son of Henry and Agnes Anna (Riha) Sedlacek. He graduated from Tama High School, class of 1955. Leland served his Country in the United States Army. Leland was united in marriage to the love of his life, Margie "Marge" Louise Hlas on April 28, 1962. He worked as a letter carrier for over 38 years at the US Postal Service. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, attending dances with his wife Marge, and most of all spending time with his family. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 909 and St. Ludmila Catholic Church.
Lee is survived by wife Marge; children Jean (Kevin) Manecke, Janice (EJ) Lehman and Mary (Rod) Benion; five grandchildren Kelsey (Jeremy) Manecke-Lewison, Lauren (Jon) Phillips, Ryan (Rachel) Grenko, Tyler Grenko and Kye (Catherine) Grenko; eight great-grandchildren; and his sister Delores (Bud) Shaw; as well as his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family.
