Lubert Wilmer Reif, 81 of Fairfax died Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.  Services will be 10 a.m., Friday, December 19, 2008 at Brosh Chapel, temporarily located at 3100 F Avenue NW.  Burial will follow in Anderson Cemetery in Swisher.  Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Thursday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids.

Lubert was born June 17, 1927 in Johnson County near Solon, the son of Christian and Lillian Stransky Reif.  He married Wilma Kadera of August 10, 1948 at Hus Memorial Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids.  He worked for over 32 years at Square D until his retirement in 1990.  He loved to fish, garden, and do woodworking. He was a member of the Machinist Union Local 831.

Lubert is survived by his sons, Wayne (Rita) of Walker, Arnie (Carol) of Conroy, Lloyd (Shelley) of Cedar Rapids and Dale (Kandy) of Clarence;  sixteen grandchildren and twenty-two                       great-grandchildren; and a sister Violet Schulte of Norway.  He was preceded in death by his wife Wilma, a daughter Veronica Lee Reif, his parents, sisters Orvia Novak, Lillian Caloupka and Ruby Zhorne, an infant brother and a brother Leonard Reif.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.
