Yvonne Ellen Beranek, 73 of Cedar Rapids died Saturday, April 05, 2008 at St. Lukes Hospital after battling a long courageous battle with COPD.  Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 7, 2008 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids located at 1028 3 rd Street SE, with Rev. Tom Carver presiding.  Burial will follow in Cedar Memorial Cemetery.   Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids.
Yvonne was born April 7, 1934, in Iowa City,the daughter of Orval and Pearl (Dunlap) Kruse.  Yvonne graduated from Wilson High School in 1952.  She married her high school sweetheart Bernard Beranek on December 26, 1952.
Yvonne is survived by her husband Bernie, son Terry(Fran) of Cedar Rapids, two daughters Joni(Gary) King of Eldridge and Cindy(Hoeger)Beranek of Toddville; six grandchildren Corey(Stacie) King of Coralville, Kristi(Nick) Cummins of Bettendorf, Chad and Carrie Hoeger, Jenny(Rick) Rigel, Lynn(Karren) Smith; three greatgrandchildren Colin and Allyson Cummins, Alexander Rigel; a sister Donna (Bruce) Nunemaker; two brothers Jim(Kathy)  and Dean Kruse all of Cedar Rapids.
Preceding her in death were her parents and a brother Richard "Dick" Kruse.
Yvonne and Bernie owned and operated the Coast to Coast Store on 16 th Avenue in Cedar Rapids for 20 years.  Yvonne worked at Sadler Power Train in the early 80's after the store was sold.  She enjoyed bowling, trapshooting, fishing trips to Canada, boating, golfing and traveling.  After retiring they spent their winters in Port Isabel, Texas until her illness caused them to stay in Iowa.
Yvonne was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many and will be greatly missed by all.
