Wilma Sophia Skripsky, 88, of Cedar Rapids, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 01, 2015 at MeadowView Assisted Living. Celebration of Life Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 6, 2015 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, with Pastor Karen Ullestad presiding. Burial will follow in Cedar Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Monday at Brosh Chapel. Wilma was born September 2, 1926 in Solon the daughter of Joseph and Sophia (Konecny) Hajek. She graduated from Franklin High School in Cedar Rapids. She married Lumir L. Skripsky on July 11, 1946 in Ely. He died on April 19, 1988. Wilma worked for over thirty-five years at Square D Company. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, walking with her dogs, baking, puzzles, and time spent with her family, especially the grand and great-grandchildren. Wilma was a member of Central Park (Echo Hill) Presbyterian and WFLA. Wilma is survived by her children Charlene (Carl) Engstrom of Davenport, Vern (Pam) Skripsky of Weatherford, Texas and Bill (Nancy) Skripsky of Walford; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; her sister Marcella Fisher of Cedar Rapids; her brother Richard (Margaret) Hajek of Solon; sister-in-law Myrtle Hajek of Cedar Rapids; as well as many nieces and nephews. Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a granddaughter Kirsten Engstrom, her brother Bill Hajek and her sister Geraldine (Leonard) Broulik. Memorials may be directed to Above and Beyond Hospice and or to Retrieve A Golden of Minnesota.
