Wilma was born July 11, 1915 in Johnson County, the daughter of Emil and Libbie (Becicka) Smahel. She graduated from Shueyville High School. She married Robert Bowersox in Cedar Rapids on October 14, 1939.
Wilma lived in the Swisher area all of her single and married life. They built a house in Swisher in 1979 but continued farming until 1987. Wilma loved to do crossword puzzles, crochet, knit, and tend to her flowers and her house. She liked to be around people, friends, run her own errands and visit on the phone. Wilma always watched the Hawkeye Games on TV. A special thanks to Jackie and Bob for the phone calls every morning since 1999.
