Wilma Darlene Romig High died peacefully on February 14, 2018, Valentine's Day, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen High. Wilma is survived by her six children Rebecca Ray (Jack), Virgil High (Carol), Virginia Irwin (Steve), Christine Stiles, Thomas High (Therese), and Lorie Hawkins (Jonathon) and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Wilma was born to John and Nette (Clark) Romig on October 18, 1928, as the youngest of four children, Burdette Romig, Grace Elsbury, and Verna Lucille Romig, in Edgewood, Iowa. Wilma married Glen High on August 20, 1950 after graduating from Edgewood High School. She attended Bible Baptist Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas with Glen, graduating with a MRE degree in 1953.
Wilma and Glen returned to Cedar Rapids, Iowa and pastored Berean Baptist Church until 1987. Then they ministered at Grace Trinity Church in Shellsburg, Iowa for 9 years before retiring.
Wilma supported and worked beside her husband, Glen and his ministry. She also enjoyed volunteering at Inform Iowa and Aid to Women (Bridgehaven) as a counselor and taught Bible Studies.
Glen and Wilma's caring concern for people touched many lives. This included conducting Bible Studies at various Nursing Homes, visiting the elderly, and the sick. They also chaperoned the youth on many camping trips to Silver State Youth Camp in Colorado.
Wilma was talented musically and played many instruments. These included the drums, Hawaiian guitar, and the piano. She enjoyed travelling, especially flying, cooking, teaching the Bible, and reading. Her greatest joys were her family and friends. She was loved and will be greatly missed.
A final viewing will be held at River of Life Church, 3801 Blairsferry Road NE, Cedar Rapids, on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 1:00pm. Followed by the funeral at 2:00pm at River of Life Church, then a graveside service at Palo Cemetery. Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids is serving the family.
