Willie "Wil" Hurd, 44 of Solon, died on Friday, November 4, 2016. Celebration of life services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Solon, located at 100 South Cedar Street, where full military rites will be conducted by Iowa Honor Guard.  Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Brosh Chapel.

He was born Willie James Hurd Jr. on January 25, 1972 at Brakenridge Hospital in Austin, Texas to Willie James and Ruth E. (Moore) Hurd Sr.  After graduation he joined the United States Army where he served in Operation Iraqi Freedom.  After returning from duty, he continued to serve by becoming an employee at the VA Medical Center, where no one was a stranger because he was always remembered for his infectious smile.  He loved to be active in sports including softball, golf, camping, riding bicycle and recently riding his motorcycle.  He never missed watching "his" Texas Longhorns in any sport.  Most of all he loved to spend time with his girls Pyeper and Ryelee.  They were his biggest fans and he will always be their hero.

Wil is survived by his wife Rachell of Solon; his daughters: Pyeper and Ryelee Hurd; His parents: Willie and Ruth Hurd Sr. of Austin, Texas, his sister: Tuesday M. Hurd Austin, Texas, his nephew: Nefta Fonseca of Austin, Texas; his sons: Tristan K. Hurd of Dripping Springs Texas and Deshawn Hurd of Lampertheim, Germany.

Wil was preceded in death by his grandparents Howard and Marnette (Mays) Hurd, Lloyd Moore Sr., and Eleanor (Shaw) Moore.
