William W. Jurging, 73, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House.  Celebration of life gathering will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, October 22, 2018 at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW.

William was born August 11, 1945 in Washington, the son of Rollie and LaDeema (Wood) Jurging.  He graduated from Cedar Rapids Jefferson High School, class of 1963.  William was united in marriage to Connie Henkes on February 14, 1976.  Bill owned and operated various auto repair businesses in the area.   He enjoyed fast cars, riding his bicycle, fishing, going to the Iowa State Fair, Good Guys Car Show, as well as spending time with his friends and family.  Bill enjoyed learning about and trading within the financial markets, including day trading.  He enjoyed driving his Corvette and seeing what this country has to offer.  He enjoyed watching his favorite teams, the Hawkeyes and Cubs. He took pride in his son, daughter, and grandkids.  If you knew Bill, then you knew he had a dry, sarcastic, witty sense of humor.

Bill is survived by his son Toby (Heidi) Jurging of Kent, Ohio; his daughter Mia (Bryan) Phillips of Crested Butte, Colorado; five grandchildren Porter, Harper and Easton Jurging, Hillary and Hallie Phillips; his brother Dennis (Beatrice) Jurging of Cedar Rapids; his mother-in-law Shirley Henkes; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Deanna Sandberg, Marsha & Lloyd Feickert, Sheryl & Steve Kruse, Janice & Rick Johanningmeier, Jeanne & Paul Miller, Brian Meyer and Dave Schrader.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Connie, his father-in-law Calvin Henkes, sisters-in-law Debbie Meyer and Carmen Schrader.

William's family would like to thank Chuck and Carrie Cummins for their love and support over the years and being consistent, solid caregivers.  Their assistance was comforting and reassuring, thank you.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in his name.
