Walter Newsome, 78, died Saturday, September 29, 2012 in his home. Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 5th, 2012 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Walter was born September 16, 1934 in Cleburn, Texas, the son of Lawrence and Elsie (Kerr) Newsome. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Walter worked in the Circus on set-ups, where he met his wife Sharon. To this union, two sons Kevin and Kyle were born. Walter worked for Fort Worth Star Telegram for many years. After Sharon died he met Lindy Snider and they moved to Iowa in 2003. Walter is survived by his sister Jackie Ratliff of Indiana; a brother Wayne "Rusty" Harmondson of New Mexico, sons Kevin (Sarah) Newsome of Fort Worth and Kyle (Sharon) Newsome of Riverside, California; his grandchildren; and his loving companion Lindy of Cedar Rapids and her two children Cara (Jeff) Lemley of Newton and John (Frannie) Dimond of Fairfield, California. Walter is preceded in death by his parents and his wife Sharon. Memorials may be directed to the family.
