Virgil Frank Crofter, 90 of Mt. Vernon died Monday, January 2, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 6th, 2012 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Friday at the chapel. Burial to follow in Cedar Memorial Cemetery. Virgil was born February 16, 1921 in Iowa City, the son of Wes and Blanche Crofter. Virgil farmed in the Mt. Vernon by the Ivanhoe bottoms area all his life. Virgil is survived by his nephews Mark Sedlacek of Cedar Rapids and Richard Sedlacek of Cedar Rapids; great-nieces and nephews as well as a very close friend Melvin Crocker of Lisbon. Virgil is preceded in death by his parents, very close friend Lorraine Gorman. Memorials may be directed to the family at 9207 Horseshoe Lake, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52411.
