Vernon Henry Ziskovsky
, 75, of Swisher, passed away Oct. 17, 2006. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, October 20

, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids. Burial will follow in Anderson Cemetery in Swisher, where full Military rites will be conducted by the Swisher American Legion Post #671. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Brosh Chapel.
He was born March 16, 1931, south of Shueyville to Frank and Ruth Novotny Ziskovsky. He married Marilyn Benesh, February 20, 1955 at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, of 51 years, one daughter Lynnette (Mark) Fevold of Iowa Falls, and four sons: Dwane (Ann) of Swisher, Lyle (Deb) of Dallas Center, Norman of Swisher, and Alan (Katie) of Swisher. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren: Katie (Brandon), Anthony (Christy), Darren, Magdeline, Jeremiah, April (Adam), Jill and Kelli Ziskovsky; Jason and Jessie Fevold. He is also survived by a sister Erma (Richard) Booth and sister-in-law Irene (Marvin) Ziskovsky.
He served as a Corporal in the 10
th
Infantry Division Co. C of the US Army during the Korean War. He received the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal with 1 Bronze Campaign Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
After the service he farmed for 51 years SW of Swisher. He was a founding charter member of the Iowa Cattlemen's Association since 1973, was a member of the Johnson Co. Cattlemen and director for six years. Vernon belonged to the Johnson Co. Farm Bureau for over 50 years and was the Monroe Township director for 35 years. He also belonged to Swisher Legion Post No. 671, the Johnson Co. Pork Producers and the Corn & Soybean Association.
