Verna "Bunnie" Kline, 88 of Solon, died Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Sunnyside Memory Gardens in Charles City. Brosh Chapel in Solon is assisting the family. Verna was born August 18, 1926 in Marshalltown, the daughter of James and Grace (Johnson) Smith. She married Robert Dean Kline on August 29, 1947. Verna trained to be a Cadet Nurse during WWII and then went on to work as a nurse in Marshalltown and Charles City. Dean and Verna resided in Marshalltown until 1966 when they moved to Charles City. Verna moved to Solon in 1995 after Dean's death to be closer to family. Verna loved to attend her grandchildren's sporting events and music concerts. She enjoyed gardening, her flowers, pets, and spending time with family. Verna is survived by her sons, Bob (Teri) Kline of Solon and Jim (Ramona) Kline of White Salmon, Washington; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean, and her daughter, Jolene. Memorials may be directed to Last Hope Animal Shelter, P.O.
