Valerie Louise Henson, 67, of Hiawatha passed away Friday following a long illness.  As per the family's wishes, private services will be held at a later date.  Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids are in charge of arrangements.

Valerie spent 35 years caring for others as a nursing assistant; enjoyed sewing, crafts, decorating, baking, working in her yard and attending auctions & sales with her friends. Valerie is survived by her son & daughter, Jeffrey & Tina Parent, her grandchildren Braxton and Brittany Parent (all of Hiawatha), her Aunt Linda Rotter of Cedar Rapids and many nieces & nephews.
