Timothy "Tim" Lee Scheer, 74, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha following a lengthy illness. A "Celebration of Life" will take place on Saturday, June 1, 2024, beginning at 12p.m. at Green Castle Aero Club, 2154 250th St. NW, Oxford, IA. A fly-over in Tim's vintage plane will take place at the event. Inurnment will take place at Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion. Arrangements are being handled by Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids.

Tim was born February 20, 1950, in Cedar Rapids, IA. He was the third son of Donald and Phyllis (Ford) Scheer. He graduated in the class of '68 from Linn Mar High School. Tim loved all things that had an engine- cars, planes, helicopters, Harley Davidson motorcycles, dune buggies, and Rat Rods. He was also thrilled by speed and was once involved with motorcycle hill-climbing, ¼ mile motorcycle drag-racing, flying, skydiving, and sailing. Shortly after high school, he obtained his private pilot's license and soon purchased a 1947 Taylorcraft monoplane. Having earned his A&P (Airframe and Power Plant) license for aircraft and helicopters, he set about inspecting and repairing aircraft for many pilots in the area. In his later years, his passion for aircraft turned toward complete restoration of rare and vintage planes. There just weren't too many mechanical things he couldn't fix or improve on. His latest projects were building a custom T-Bucket Roadster and restoring a 1929 Fleet Biplane. His employment included Link-Belt, Master Mechanic for Toyota, and ITC Midwest.

Tim is survived by his siblings, Philip (Faith) Scheer, Greg/Lynn (Carolyn) Scheer, Vanita (Joe) Pearson, Ken (Pam) Scheer, and his beloved cat, Kitty. He was predeceased by his parents, his younger brother, Jeff, and nephew, Ryan Scheer.

The family truly appreciates all the love, care, and concern shown to Tim in these years of illness by his Green Castle family, where he was a 25+ year member and former president of the club. The airport was his "Happy Place."
