Thomas Russell Slade, 65, of Solon, passed away on Friday, January 8, 2021, in his home.  As per Tom's wishes a private family gathering will be held at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre.  There will be a Celebration of Life at the Solon American Legion at a later date.

Thomas was born December 23, 1955, in Iowa City, the son of Russell and Dolores (Kofron) Slade.  He graduated from West High School in Iowa City.  Tom was an owner of Slade Brothers Roofing in Coralville, and later a private contractor.   Tom, an avid outdoorsman, spent his summers fishing Pelican Lake in Minnesota. He enjoyed watching the Packers.  Tom loved spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren and spoiling them at Christmas. He was a member of the Cedar Valley Rock and Mineral Society, sharing his knowledge at the annual show. He was a dedicated mushroom hunter, winning many awards at Houby Days.  With a smile on his face, Tom would say "If you can't be good, be good at it".

Tom is survived by his mother Dolores Slade of Coralville; his siblings Cyndi (Rod) Langel and Tim (Peggy) Slade; his children Ryan (Amanda) Slade of Coralville, Morgan (Jordan) Driscoll of Hiawatha and Jessica Kyer of Dayton, Ohio; five grandchildren Makayla, Elizabeth and Olivia Slade, Brody Driscoll, and Penelope Kyer.

Tom was preceded in death by his father Russell.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
