Tom was born May 16, 1960, in Iowa City, the son of Joe and Judy (Shebetka) Kral. He graduated from Solon High School, class of 1978, and earned an associate degree in agricultural business from Kirkwood Community College. Tom was united in marriage to Kathy Struzynski on October 2, 1982, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Oxford, to whom he remained married for 28 years. He was a manager at Paul’s Discount in Iowa City for many years. Tom enjoyed hunting with friends, gardening, cooking for his family, playing cards with neighbors, reading the newspaper, and most of all spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He "never met a stranger" and was a person of strong faith.

Tom is survived by his three daughters, Anastasia (Dustin) Whited, Miranda Kral, and Ashley (Joshua) Beer; his grandchildren, Cole Whited, and Noelle and Audrey Beer; his former wife, Kathy Kral; his father, Joe B. Kral; his siblings, Tammy (Buddy) Johnson, Tim (Natalie) Kral, and Tricia Brinkman (Wayne Reynolds); former sister-in-law, Vicki (Jim) Struzynski Olson; as well as his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Judy; his grandparents, Louis and Anna Kral and Leonard and Hazel Shebetka; and former in-laws, Ivan and Mary Struzynski.

Memorials may be directed to Coralville Community Food Pantry or Houses into Homes.
