Tami Lynn Davis, 64, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2026. She was born on July 6, 1962, to Donald and Sandra (Stavely) Rompot

Tami married the love of her life, Donald Davis, on September 23, 1989. Together they built a life filled with simple joys—cheering on the Chicago Cubs, relaxing in rocking chairs in their backyard, enjoying live music, and spending time with family. Don preceded her in death in 2012, but the love they shared remained close to her heart throughout her life. The oldest of three children, Tami shared a lifelong bond with her sister, Donna (Jim) Gideon, and her brother, Donald (Maureen) Rompot Jr.

Nursing was far more than a career for Tami; it was her calling. She dedicated more than four decades to caring for others, including over 40 years at Living Center in Cedar Rapids. She began her work as a junior in high school, caring for children with developmental and intellectual disabilities. To Tami, these children were never just residents—they were family. She loved them fiercely, advocated for them tirelessly, and formed deep relationships with the children, their families, and her coworkers. Later in her career, she transitioned to elderly care, continuing to serve others with the same compassion and devotion. Her coworkers became a significant part of her family, often shared stories of her kindness, generosity, and unwavering support, and many expressed that Living Center simply will not be the same without her. Their love for Tami was so evident in her final days and deeply appreciated.

Those who knew Tami will remember her as fiercely independent, wonderfully stubborn, and incredibly compassionate. She had one of the biggest hearts imaginable and was always ready to lend a helping hand, offer comfort, or bring laughter with a well-timed joke. She enjoyed cheering for the Chicago Cubs and Bears, watching scary movies—especially Stephen King—scratching lottery tickets, playing pranks, and making people smile. Tami’s constant companion and beloved dog Rizzo enjoyed taking long walks in the family orchard where she could enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Although Tami never had children of her own, she embraced her role as the proud aunt who loved her nieces and nephews as if they were her own. Her greatest joy in recent years came from watching her great-nieces and great-nephew grow. Bayleigh, Sayde, Letti, Erin, Lakely, and Huxley were more like grandchildren to her, and she treasured every moment spent with them. She also delighted in spoiling family—young and old—with thoughtful gifts, holiday surprises, and plenty of laughter.

Tami is survived by her sister, Donna (Jim) Gideon; her brother, Donald (Maureen) Rompot Jr.; her nieces and nephews Meagan (Mike) Peck, Justin (Jenni) Gideon, Alyssa Quinn, Jacob (Danielle) Rompot, and Nick (Tyler) Budde-Rompot; her beloved great-nieces Bayleigh, Sayde, Letti, Erin, and Lakely; her great-nephew Huxley; and many extended family members, dear friends, coworkers, and the countless individuals whose lives were touched by her kindness.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Davis, and her parents, Donald and Sandra Rompot.

A private graveside service will be held at Czech National Cemetery, where Tami will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband and parents.

Tami leaves behind a legacy of compassion, selfless service, unwavering devotion to those she loved, and a lifetime spent making the world a kinder place. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, but her love, laughter, and caring spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.
