Sylvia E. (Novak) Neitderhisar, 98 of Tiffin, died Saturday, November 19, 2011 at the Solon Care Center. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday November 23, 2011 at Grace United Methodist Church in Tiffin, IA with burial to follow in Oakhill Cemetery in Tiffin, IA. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday November 22, 2011 at Brosh Chapel, 100 S. Cedar St. in Solon. Sylvia was born December 27, 1912 in Ely, IA the daughter of Frank and Frances (Andrle) Novak. She graduated from Coe College with a teaching certificate. Sylvia taught country schools in the Ely area for 7 years. She married Oren Neitderhisar on September 14, 1937 at St. John Lutheran Church in Ely, IA. She spent most of her life farming along side her husband Oren. She was a member of the Czech Heritage Foundation, Neighborhood Birthday Club, Grace United Methodist Church in Tiffin and Johnson County Farm Bureau and many other local committees. Sylvia enjoyed baking, sewing, board and card games, history, genealogy, as well as spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren. Sylvia is survived by her son Daryl (Carol) Neitderhisar of North Liberty and her daughter Bernis (Michael Bresnahan) Stagg of Iowa City; two grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Oren, two brothers Daniel and David Novak and twin sisters Mary Fencl and Frances Neitderhisar.
