Steven D. Snyder, 56, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Friday, August 27, 2021, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy after a seven year battle with cancer.  A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held Saturday, September 4, 2021, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW, where friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Private inurnment will be held in Shueyville Cemetery.

Steven was born April 1, 1965, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Dale and Nancy Snyder. He met his wife Tarayssa Fairchild in 2011 along with his stepson Ryan, whom he loved and raised as his own. Steve worked at Storm Steel in Cedar Rapids, and with his father at Snyder Inc. for many years. He loved racing his stock car at Hawkeye Downs and was a NASCAR fan. He liked watching the Hawkeyes, Vikings, and the Cubs. Steve was a member of New City Church and enjoyed coaching church league softball.

Steven is survived by his wife Tarayssa; stepchildren Chasity (Scott) Brimeyer, Char Turner, Travis (Damia) Dee, and Ryan Fairchild; four grandchildren; his mother Nancy (Bob Glenn) Thomason; stepbrothes Shane Glenn and Shawn Glenn; stepsister Shannon (Donnie) Fadeley; brother David; sister Ann (Rod) Tierney; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Dale, several aunts, uncles, cousins, and a stepsister and stepbrother.

Steve will always be remembered for his gentle nature and kindness to others. Though he will be missed dearly he is now without pain, resting in God's arms.

He was deeply loved by his family and friends. His laughter and sense of humor was infectious and his resilience in courage was unwavering. We are grateful for the times we were given.
