Steven C. Meskimen, 56 of Cedar Rapids, passed away Sunday, October 28, 2012 at St. Luke's Hospital following an extended illness. Family will greet friends and share memories Thursday, November 1, 2012 from 5 until 7 p.m. at The Avacentre at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Steven was born December 21, 1955 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Guy and Carol (Vaverka) Meskimen. He spent his childhood in Cedar Rapids and attended Jefferson High School before entering the Marine Corps in 1974. Steve moved to Littleton, Colorado in 1978, where he lived for nearly 25 years and worked as a concrete finisher. He married Jennifer Joe in Littleton in July of 1987. They later divorced. Steve will be missed and forever remembered for his love of animals, the great outdoors, and his ability to take pleasure from the simple things in life. Steve is survived by his parents, Carol Meskimen of Cedar Rapids, and Guy (Dian) Meskimen of Guttenberg; siblings, Deena (Steve) Bernhardt of Iowa City, Scott Meskimen and Tami Kluth of Cedar Rapids; niece Abby Boer and nephew Austin Kluth. The family would like to thank the staffs of Dr. Jason Booth's office, St. Luke's Interventional Radiology and Crestview Acres Nursing Home for their care and kindness. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family.
