Steven L. Lekin, 47 of 1224 K Street SW, died Sunday, December 7, 2008 unexpectedly, but peacefully in his sleep, from coronary artery disease.  A celebration of life service will be 7 p.m. Thursday, December 11, 2008 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, temporarily located at 3100 F Avenue NW.  Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Brosh Chapel.

Steve was born October 4, 1961 in Cedar Rapids and received his education in the Cedar Rapids School District.  Steve's lifelong goal was to cook the best food ever for family, friends and patrons wherever he worked.  He cooked in the Czech Village area for many years.  He was an avid Hawkeye and Cubs fan.  He was employed at Chappy's Safari Lounge until the flood of 2008, and was recently cooking for the residents at Higley Mansion Care Center until his death. He was a very loving owner of his pets, Eddie, Shelby, Jake, and Gabby.

Steve is survived by his soulmate, Christine Gallagher and her loving family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harry, his mother Betty, and two brothers Gary and Kenny.

A memorial fund has been established in his name.
