Steve Brodie, 74, died Monday, January 24, 2022, at Mercy Medical Center.  Celebration of Life gathering will be from 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday, February 5, 2022, at The Avacentre at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW.  Private family inurnment will be at a later date.

Steve was born June 8, 1947, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the son of John and Dorothy (Griffith) Brodie.  He served in the United States Army from 1967-1969, during the Vietnam Conflict.  Steve was united in marriage to Bonnie Van Slyke on October 20, 1967, in Iowa City.  He was over the road truck driver for nearly fifty years, including at ABC Disposal, Hummer, Foodliner, and Dawes Transportation.  He enjoyed fishing, traveling, reading books, playing cribbage and scrabble, and most of all spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren.

Steve is survived by his wife Bonnie; children Tammy Munson, Kathryn (James) Butts, Renee (Don) Fritz, Daniel (Lori) Brodie, Cynthia (Brian) Jack and Warren (Teri) Brodie; seventeen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; his siblings as well as his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and a sister.
