Stephen Dale Douglas, 75, passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2026, after a brave fight with a lengthy illness. A celebration of Life will be held from 5—7 on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre, 2121 Bowling Street SW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre are assisting the family with arrangements.

Steve was born on September 28, 1950, the son of Elmer Earl Douglas and Jeanie Wilson Douglas. Steve graduated from Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids in 1978. He later attended Colorado State University and Iowa State University graduating from ISU in 1975 with forestry degree. He had season tickets to ISU football and men and women's basketball.

1975 — 2005 He worked for the department of Interior, Bureau of Land Management as a cadastral surveyor simultaneously as Deputy State Director. He and his crew traveled through 14 eastern states surveying many Indian reservations.Being a devoted fan of Jimmy Buffet, he was a dedicated member of Isle of Iowa Parrot Head Club since 2006 serving on their board since 2016 until his passing. He served as secretary, election official, and large part of DOT Adopt a Highway and helped with Alzheimer's fund raiser. He traveled distances attending over 100 Jimmy Buffet concerts, meeting friends, and tenting up for their famous tailgate parties. Key West was a favorite yearly trip to attend a Parrot Head Convention. MOTM!! He was a big as life fun loving Parrot Head whose presence will be missed! Sail On!!!

Along with Coral Reefer Band and numerous rock concerts he enjoyed golf, sports, Nascar, international road races, and kept a close eye on Lost Island tv program.

Steve quietly supported many charities, including Children's Special Olympics, Alzheimer's Association , St Jude's and St. Joseph's Indian School, SD, serving Lakota Sioux children and families. He continued his donations as a donor with the Iowa Donor network.

He was preceded in death by his parents, several aunts and uncles and cousins.
