Shirley Mae Serbousek, 74 of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, July 19, 2009 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.  Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.  Visitation will be an hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.  Private family inurnment will be at Czech National Cemetery.

Shirley was born May 6, 1935 in Garland, Nebraska, the daughter of Adolph and Frances Nemec Kovar.  She married Henry "Hank" Serbousek on August 31, 1953 in Fairfax.  Shirley retired from Rockwell Collins in 1992.  She enjoyed bowling, reading and playing cards and will be greatly missed by all, especially her family.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Hank; children, Michael J. Serbousek, Charles A. Serbousek, Karen (Mike) Becker all of Cedar Rapids, Julie (Ricky) Schropp of Swisher; 3 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; brothers, Lyle Kovar and LeRoy (Katie) Kovar both of Missouri; and her sister Betty (Dave) Delany of California.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Adolph and Frances Kovar.
