Shirley "Gerbil" Jacobson, 56 of Cedar Rapids, died on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.  A celebration of life gathering will be begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Cooter's.

Shirley was born February 28, 1960 in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of Paul and Beverly (Miller) Smith.  She enjoyed partying and spending time with friends and family.  For 40 plus years Shirley had the nickname, Gerbil.  She loved any kind of ice cream and loved to clean anything.  She enjoyed watching daytime soaps and her lifetime movies.  She has a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone.  She was deeply loved by her daughter and her many friends.

Shirley is survived by her daughter Rachel Vogt of Cedar Rapids; two grandchildren Tyler and Sarah; her mother Beverly Ring of Williamsburg; three brothers Steve, Scott and Tim Smith; as well as her nieces, nephews and many friends.

Shirley was preceded in death by her father.
