Shirley Exline, 84, of Fairfax, died Thursday, August 23, 2018 at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.  Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, August 26, 2018, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW.  As per Shirley's wishes private graveside services will be held at Cedar Memorial Cemetery.

Shirley was born March 12, 1934 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Harry and Lucille (Williams) Gorman. Shirley was a secretary at College Community School District for over 32 years, where she shared her great love for children.  She served 8 years on the School Board after retirement.  Shirley was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She spent many hours volunteering at St. Mark's United Methodist Church "Clothes Hanger".

Shirley is survived by her children Debra (John) Burns of Owasso, Oklahoma, Becky Kramer of Cedar Rapids and Douglas (Nancy) Exline of Fairfax; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law Vivian Gorman of Marion; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lawrence, and her brothers Bobbie and Harry Gorman.
