Sheldon "Shelly" J. Shapiro, 88 of Solon, died Thursday, July 9, 2015 at the Solon Nursing and Care Center. Memorial Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Solon. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Tuesday at Brosh Chapel in Solon, located at 100 S. Cedar Street, with a 7 p.m. Masonic Service. Sheldon was born March 29, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Eli Raymond and Charlotte "Lottie" (Goldstein) Shapiro. He graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School. Shelly proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He married Aline Aucoin. Shelly was a member of the VFW and American Legion Post 109 in Lisbon. Shelly is survived by his son, Brent Shapiro of Fort Worth, Texas, and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Aline and his sister, Merlyn "Lynne".
