Sharian Lee Hird, 68 of Marion, died Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at her home after a short illness.  Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 2008 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.  Burial will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton.  Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, where there will be a 6:30 p.m. vigil.  Visitation will also be an hour prior to services Saturday at the church.

Sharian was born October 12, 1939 in Oelwein, the daughter of Floyd Eldon and Beulah (Starr) Grapes.  She married Ronald James Hird on December 31, 1962 in Cedar Rapids.  Sharian worked at Iowa National Mutual Insurance, Hunter Specialties until 2005, and she provided in home daycare for over 20 years.  She enjoyed camping, fishing, reading, and being around her family and friends.

Sharian is survived by her husband Ron; children Craig Hird, Lisa Hird, and Steve (Crystal) Hird all of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren: Dylan, Aubrie, and Cain; and sisters Beverly James of Scottsdale, AZ, Barbara Smith of Oelwein, and Janet Pech of Winthrop.

She was preceded in death by her parents Eldon and Beulah Grapes and twin daughters Annette and Sheila.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Luke's Hospice.
