Sandra K. Becicka, 63, of West Des Moines, died Saturday, June 24 from injuries suffered in a motor vehicle accident.  Services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 28 at Brosh Chapel in Solon.  Burial will follow in Rogers Grove Cemetery in rural Ely.  Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and for an hour prior to services Wednesday at Brosh Chapel.
Sandy was born February 24, 1943, in Williamsburg, the daughter of Harold and Velma Hofmaster.  She was a graduate of Prairie High School.  Sandy married Ronald Becicka November 9, 1961 in Solon. They farmed near Mt. Vernon for 30 years.  During those years Sandy was a leader of Campfire, 4H, and Linn County Porkettes.  They moved to West Des Moines in 1990.  She recently retired from working at Wells Fargo.
Sandy is survived by her husband Ron; mother Velma Hofmaster of Cedar Rapids; daughter Donna (Gregg) Nichols of Columbia, MO; sons Brian (Jane Ann) Becicka of Charles City, and Daryl Becicka of West Des Moines; sister Janice (Jim) McCrabb of West Liberty; and brother Rick (Pat) Hofmaster of Sacramento, CA; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Brian and Cheryl Dake; and nine grandchildren Genny, Charlene, Bennett, John, Cecilia, Rosalyn, and Carl Becicka; Ronnie and Audrey Nichols.
Preceding her in death was her father Harold, also her sister Eileen Grinder, who died June 23, 2006.
Sandy's passions were wildlife photography and geneology.  She took thousands of photographs and created many family history books. Sandy will be remembered for her bright smile and extraordinary way of connecting with people. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
