Samuel John Stratton Jr., 28 of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, September 8, 2013. Celebration of Life services will be Sunday, September 22, 2013 at Jones Park between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. Sam was born August 19, 1985, the son of Shondra Kane and Samuel Stratton Sr. He was raised by his mother and David Sykes. Sam enjoyed playing football and attended NIACC, he also had a scholarship to UCON which he turned down to fulfill his dream to be coach for his own Washington High School's freshman football team. Sam leaves behind his son, Samuel Stratton 3rd and his daughter, Zahria Stratton; his sisters, Sarah Stutler, Catalina Stutler, Chelsey and Nichole Peyton, Adriana Fernandez, and Shawnee Stratton; his brothers, Steven Stratton, Jason Stratton, Maurice Hodges, Arron Martin, Antesio Sykes; nieces, Deondra, Keomi, Tileia Jones and Shaylyn Stratton; and his nephew, Nakahien Jones. Sam left an impact on everyone he touched and will be greatly missed and loved by many. Memorials may be directed to the family.
