Ruth Charlotte Marek Vrba, 88 of Cedar Rapids , died Sunday, June 27, 2010 at Heritage Nursing and Rehab Center . Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 30 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids , located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Burial will follow in Czech National Cemetery . Visitation will be an hour prior to services at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids .

Ruth was born December 3, 1921, the daughter of Wesley and Mamie Unick Marek. She married Frank Vrba on March 22, 1941 in Cedar Rapids . Ruth and Frank farmed in the rural Cedar Rapids area their entire lives. Ruth loved to bowl, read, do crosswords and puzzles and be outside.

Ruth is survived by a son Frank (Kathy) Vrba of Marengo and a daughter Janice Philipp of Cedar Rapids ; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Frank M. in 1968, a daughter Catherine Jones in 1974, and a son in law Mike Philipp in 2001.
