Rose Elizabeth Skalsky, 88 of Cedar Rapids died Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at her home.  As per Rose's wishes funeral services and burial in Czech National Cemetery will be private.  Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids is in charge of arrangements.

Rose was born October 3, 1917 in Cou Falls, the daughter of Edward and Ada E. See Turecek.  She married Milton Skalsky on August 17, 1941 in Kahoka, Missouri.  Rose worked for over 19 years for the Cedar Rapids Schools in the cafeteria and for over 23 years as a department head for JC Penneys.  Rose was an avid gardener, growing herbs and vegetables all her life.

Rose is survived by her daughter Jeanne and son in law Dan Carter of Marion; two sisters Alma Lana and Irene Earsa both of Cedar Rapids.  Preceding her in death were her parents, a sister Mary Witousek, a daughter Judi Skalsky, and her husband Milton.
