September 27, 1948 – May 3, 2022
Rose Marie Ruzicka, 73, of Cedar Rapids, entered eternal life on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics after suffering a recent stroke. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, May 9, 2022, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with burial to follow in St. John's Catholic Cemetery.
Rose was born September 27, 1948, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Joseph and Myrtle (Langton) Ruzicka, the last of six children and the only girl. Rose Marie was a lifelong resident of Cedar Rapids. She was baptized at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and graduated from Kennedy High School on June 5, 1968. She worked in the custodial department at Mercy Hospital for 44 years before retiring in 2011. She was much loved by the staff there due to her charm and quick wit. She was a great fan of Elvis Presley and had a great deal of his memorabilia. She very much enjoyed visiting Graceland. She also was very good at creating crafts and would often gift people her creations. She was a joy to be around, always had a smile and will be greatly missed.
Rose is survived by her brother Frederick Ruzicka and her very good friend Dorothea Buresh both of Cedar Rapids as well as her many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Francis who died as a toddler, Joseph II and Kenneth Ruzicka.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
