Ronald J. Rayman, 89, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, surrounded by his loving family.   Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 2, 2023, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW.  Celebration of Life services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 3, 2023, at Brosh Chapel.  Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted.

Ronald was born May 31, 1933, in Elberon, the son of Adolph and Mabel (Turbett) Rayman. He graduated from Dysart High School.   Ron served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1954-1955.  Ron was united in marriage to Janis Lee Bata on September 6, 1958, in Elberon.  He worked at Cedar Rapids Auto Parts, International Harvester, Payless Cashways, and later retired from Menards.  He enjoyed camping, boating, working security at the Ice Arena, watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, going on family vacations, and most of all spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He was a member of the Eagles and VFW Post 788.

Ron is survived by his wife Janis; daughter Jody (Cecil) Anderson; three grandchildren Kristian (Jessica) Anderson, Lukas Anderson (Precious Robison) and Bailee Anderson; three great-grandchildren Harry, Freya and Brekyn; two brothers Wayne Rayman (Marilyn Carpenter) and Larry (Joynell) Raymon; brother-in-law Leroy (Maxine) Bata; as well as his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his father and mother-in-law Joe and Ella Bata, sister-in-law Joanne Rayman, and his brother-in-law Leland (Greta) Bata.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Mercy.

The family would like to extend a thank you to the staff at Hospice of Mercy and Hall-Perrine Cancer Center for their loving care of Ron.
