Ronald Allen Nezerka, 74 of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, October 30, 2014 at St. Luke's Hospital. A memorial gathering will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, November 3, 2014 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW, with private family inurnment in Czech National Cemetery. Ronald was born May 20, 1940 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Adolf and Lottie B. (Dostal) Nezerka. He served in the United States Army following graduating from high school. Ron married Marilyn Womachka on September 22, 1961 at Calvin Sinclair Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids. He worked as a realtor with Skogman Realty for many years, as well as working for the Iowa-Illinois Gas & Electric for over twenty two years, until retiring in 2005. Ron was a member of American Legion Post 5 and 298, 40/8 Voiture 1305, AMVETS Commander for Posts 50 and 6, Moose, Elks, Special Deputy for Linn County Sheriff Department, Scout Master Troop 84, and Cedar Hills Community Church. He enjoyed reading, hunting deer and turkey and also the time spent with his many friends and family. Ron is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his son, Ron Jr. (Nikki) Nezerka and their children: Connor, Parker and Kameron; brothers, Adolph (Carlene) Nezerka of Ely, Lumir (Marlys) Nezerka of Savage, Minnesota, and Dean (Betty) Nezerka of Cedar Rapids; as well as his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents, and his daughter Rhonda Nezerka. Memorials may be directed to the family.
