Ronald R. Brooker, 69, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, October 1, 2018. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Dec 2nd, 2018. Please contact family for details. Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids is caring for Ron and his family.
Ron was born December 14, 1948, in Des Moines, the son of Bruce and Hope Brooker. Ron was a 1970 graduate of the University of Iowa and was in The Writer's Workshop. He served his country in the US Army during Vietnam, then worked for the Ironworker's Local 89. He loved writing poetry and songs, playing guitar, fishing, working in the garden and his grandchildren.
Ron is survived by his wife, Charlene; daughter Sayde (Cristian) Alexandrescu and son Sam (Hollan Goetz) Brooker; grandchildren Viana and Sabrina Alexandrescu, John and Judith Brooker; brothers Bruce Brooker, Kenneth Brooker and Charles Schaefer and their families. Memorials may be directed to the Disabled Veterans of America Chapter#10, located at 1054 33rd St NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402.
