Rodney Stanford Johnson, 80, passed away on January 16, 2026. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 24, 2026, 11 am at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 4700 Johnson Ave. NW, Cedar Rapids, IA. Private family burial at a later date.

He was born on July 11, 1945, in Webster City, Iowa to Leslie and Blanche (Hanson) Johnson.

Rodney graduated from South Hamilton HS in 1963 and went on to receive a Mid-Management degree from Ellsworth Community College.

Rodney spent much of his career in sales, working for Westinghouse and Zenith. He was also the longtime owner of American Home Rentals in Cedar Rapids.

He was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church. While spending winters in Apache Junction, Arizona, he was extremely active in his community. He enjoyed golfing, playing dominos, and enjoying the Arizona sunshine.

He took pride in his Norwegian heritage and often relayed that he was 100% Norwegian. He also loved to tell a great joke, delighting friends and family with his sense of humor.

Rodney is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Judy (Buckels) Johnson. He was a devoted father to Chalet Ludvicek (Mike) and Cameron Johnson. He was a proud grandfather to Kean Ludvicek (Hannah), Kelsi Harms (Justin), Aidan, Reese, and Trace Johnson. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Owen Ludvicek, Levi and Kaci Harms.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Marvin and Darrell.

Rodney will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love of life and family, and his wonderful laugh.
