Roderick "Rod" William Radenbaugh, 77, passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at his home in Solon. Visitation will be from 2 until 5 p.m. Sunday, December 7, 2014 at Brosh Chapel in Solon, located at 100 South Cedar Street. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 8, 2014 at the Solon United Methodist Church. Rod was born on July 2, 1937 in Lincoln, Nebraska, the son of Don and Marjorie (Hyatt) Radenbaugh. He graduated from Benson High School in Omaha in 1955. Rod later graduated in 1961, from the University of Nebraska - Omaha with a Business degree. Rod was united in marriage to Kay Almquist on September 9, 1961 in Omaha. He worked for twenty-five years in many areas and departments at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (UIHC). After retiring, Rod pursued some of his interests by practicing real estate and serving on the Planning and Zoning Board for the City of Solon. Rod loved time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He had a love of animals and nature. Rod's favorite times were when he was fishing, camping, or with his loyal german shepard, Jericho. Rod and Kay enjoyed morning and afternoon drives through Lake McBride State Park, looking for deer. Rod's loving family includes; wife Kay, son and spouse, Jay and Lidia Radenbaugh of Solon, daughter and spouse, Beth and Bill Mehmen of Swisher; four grandchildren; John Radenbaugh, Marisa Radenbaugh, Mackenzie Mehmen, and Taylor Mehmen; and a brother, Don Radenbaugh of Bozeman, Montana. Rod felt very strongly about the care and medical attention he received from the U of I Hospital and Clinic during the last 30 years. This is the reason Rod decided to donate his body to the University of Iowa Hospitals to further medical research and teaching. He will surely be missed my many. Memorials may be directed to the family.
