Robert T. Mackey, 85 of Center Point, died Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at his home.  Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 21, 2007 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Hiawatha.  Full military rites will be conducted by Urbana American Legion.  Burial will follow in Sulek Cemetery, near Shueyville. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Brosh Chapel, Cedar Rapids where there will be a 6 p.m. vigil.  Visitation will also be one hour prior to services Friday at the church.
Robert was born March 22, 1922 in Ely, the son of Thomas W. and Rose (Mrstik) Mackey.  He married Ellen Virginia Cook on November 23, 1943 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids.  Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII, and was a member of the Urbana American Legion.  He farmed in the Shellsburg area for over 13 years and then worked for Harnishfeger until his retirement.  He loved to do carpentry work and especially woodworking projects.
Robert is survived by his wife Ellen Virginia; daughters Delores (David) Green of Davenport, and Sharon (Don) Schulte of Walford; three grandsons: Douglas (Deanna) Green, Jeff (Jill) Schulte, and Jason Schulte and friend Stephanie; four great-grandsons; two great granddaughters; sisters Pauline (Joe) Becicka of Cedar Rapids and Bea (Bill) Leidich of Solon; and his brother David (Veronica) Mackey of Center Point.  He was preceded in death by his parents Tom and Rose; sisters Ruth Kinzey and Phyllis Mackey.
Memorials may be directed to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church or St. Luke's Hospice.
