Robert William Koutny, 88, of Fairfax, died Saturday, May 4, 2024, in his home.  Per Roberts request, private family services were held in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery.  Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids are in charge of arrangements.

Robert was born September 24, 1935, in Cedar Rapids, the son of William George and Beulah Jean (Ramsey) Koutny.  Bob served in the United States Army National Guard for many years. He was united in marriage to Barbara Hellwig and to this union they had four children.  They were later divorced.  Bob was united in marriage to Helen Bistricky Hofmaster in 1991.  He was proud to be a lifelong John Deere farmer in the Fairfax and Cedar Rapids area.  He enjoyed riding motorcycles, rebuilding cars and trucks and taking road trips to nowhere in particular.

Bob is survived by his wife Helen; his children Lori (Steve) Shebetka, Cathy Martensen, Julie (Bruce) Miller and Christy (Matt) Schultz; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; his brother Wayne (Mary) Koutny.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
