Robert Emil Jandik, 92 of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, July 20, 2014 at Westridge Care Center. Celebration of life services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW, with burial to follow in Czech National Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Wednesday at the chapel. Robert was born October 26, 1921 on his parent's farm in Johnson County south of Walford, the son of Frank A. and Bessie (Cuhel) Jandik. He married Frances Marie Divishek on December 3, 1947 at Hus Memorial Presbyterian Church, Cedar Rapids. Bob and Frances farmed for many years in the Walford and Swisher area. He enjoyed dancing, playing cards, going to the Senior Center, his daily coffee trip and spending time with his family, especially his great-granddaughter Tessa. Bob is survived by his daughter Sharon Kay (Mike) Brown of Swisher; two grandchildren Loren (Lisa) Brown and Christopher Brown all of Swisher; one great-granddaughter Tessa Brown; and his brother Elmer F. (Janice) Jandik of Cedar Rapids; as well as his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Frances, who died September 7, 2003, and his sister Dorothy (Roe) Kirkpatrick. Memorials may be directed to the family or to the Swisher Fire Department in his name. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Westridge and St. Luke's Hospice for their loving care for Robert.
