Robert Edward "Bob" Gause, 70, of Swisher died Thursday evening at the Solon Nursing Care Center.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am on Monday October 17, 2005 at the Shueyville United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Carver, officiating.  Interment will be held at 2:00 pm Monday at Friends Cemetery, rural Lynnville.  Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday at Brosh Chapel, Cedar Rapids.

Bob was born on November 23, 1934 in Lynnville the son of Afton and Ruth Husband Gause.  He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War.  He graduated from Texas Wesleyan College and received a Masters Degree from the University of Iowa.  On August 20, 1960 he married Jimmie Ann Jennings at San Angelo, Texas.  Bob was a longtime educator.   He was also a member of Shueyville United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years Jimmie Ann of Swisher; son Steve (Kyra) Gause of Omaha, Nebraska; daughters Kathy Gause of Conroe, Texas, and Susan (Craig) Long of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin; grandchildren Claire and Spencer Gause; and a sister Alice Gause of West Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial fund has been established for the Friends of the Swisher Library Fund and the Shueyville United Methodist Church.
