Robert L. Carroll, 73, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2023, in his home.  Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Celebration Life services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 2, 2023 at Brosh Chapel. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted.

Robert was born May 25, 1949, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Gerald and E. Katherine (Lindsay) Carroll.  He served in the United States Marine Corps, during the Vietnam War, where he earned the Purple Heart. Robert was united in marriage to Melody Hesseltine in July 14, 1972.  He was a proud member of Union 89 as an ironworker, retiring in 2005.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, playing cards, having drinks with his friends, and most of all spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren.

Robert is survived by his wife Melody; three children Daniel Carroll, Cassandra (Dave) Hawkins and Matthew Carroll; six grandchildren Kristen (Ian) Hawkins-Hamer, Katrina Hawkins, Karmen Hawkins, Kallie Hawkins, Anthony Hawkins and Daxton Carroll.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Johnny Carroll.
