Jane Rita Kowalski, 86, of Salt Springs, Florida, formerly of Solon, died Monday, June 30, 2008 at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida from a lengthy illness.  Funeral mass will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 5, 2008 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Solon.  Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Solon.  Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Brosh Chapel in Solon, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil service, and an hour prior to services Saturday at the church.

Jane was born February 19, 1922 in Dubuque, the daughter of Louis and Lila (McGiness) Lorenz.  She was united in marriage to Kenneth F. Kowalski on June 17, 1942 in Dubuque.  Jane worked in numerous capacities at Lorenz Laundry in Dubuque and Troy Laundry in Cedar Rapids.  She was a member of St. Monica's Catholic Church in Palatka, Florida.  She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Salt Springs and the American Legion auxiliary in Solon.

Jane is survived by her sons David (Suzette) Kowalski of Chicago, IL, Dorence Kowalski of Mt. Vernon, Dennis (Joyce) Kowalski of Solon; daughters Diane Kowalski Frank of Salt Springs, FL; Deborah (Joe) Kowalski Walsh of Cedar Rapids; 9 grandchildren; and 15 greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kenneth, and her son Dale Kowalski.
