Rita Jean Fields, 91 of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 8, 2015 at St. Jude's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery in Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Thursday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Rita was born August 18, 1923 in North Liberty, the daughter of Robert and Julia (Krob) Cerhan. She married William Fields on July 24, 1944 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oxford. Rita worked at Armstrong's for 18 years. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, and taking hot air balloon rides. Rita is survived by two sons, James Fields (Mary) of Cedar Rapids, and Jerald Fields of Denver, Colorado; five grandchildren, Travis (Michelle) Fields, Christina Fields, Angela Fields, Kari (Sean) Moffitt, and Abi (Andrew) Rambo; and four great-grandchildren, Brandon, Taylor, David, and Elisabeth; sister Kay (Bob) Miller of North English and a brother Keith (Mary Ann) Cerhan of Phoenix, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Fields, a daughter, Linda Fields, and a brother, Robert Cerhan. Memorials may be directed to the family.
