Richard "Dick" E. Prohaska, 85 of Ely, formerly of Solon died Friday, July 29 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City . Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 2, 2005 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Solon with Fr. David Wilkening presiding. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, August 1 at Brosh Chapel in Solon, where there will be a 6 p.m. Vigil service. A private family inurnment will be at Fairfax Cemetery in Fairfax . Military rites will be conducted by the Solon American Legion Stinocher Post 460.

He was born February 8, 1920 in Cedar Rapids the son of Edward J. and Ella Mae Nejdl Prohaska. He married Anna Russell November 6, 1940 in Cedar Rapids .

Richard worked for over 42 years as a supervisor of the Sliced bacon department at Wilson Foods retiring in 1981. He served in the United States Army Air Force during World War II. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Solon.

Richard is survived by his wife Anna; daughter Donna (Jim) Krob of Solon; sons Dick (Dianne) Prohaska of Cedar Rapids and David (Cheryl) Prohaska of Durant; and many grandchildren.

Preceding in death were his parents.
