Richard "Dick" Leo Porazil, 78 of Fairfax, died Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at his home. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, October 27, 2014 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Private family services will be held in Czech National Cemetery. Richard was born June 4, 1936 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Leo Joseph and Lillian Marie (Priborsky) Porazil. He married Doris Mae Harger on September 15, 1953 in Iowa City. Dick worked as a plumber for many years at Waterhouse Water Conditioning in Hiawatha until retiring in 2001. Dick enjoyed carpentry, fixing anything, fishing, gardening, walking the trails and most of all the time spent with his family. Richard is survived by his wife, Doris of over 61 years; his children Rick (Sheri) Porazil of Solon, Robin (Mark) Murphy of Friendswood, Texas and Ronda (Jerry) Wauters of Belle Plaine; four grandchildren Randa Ryckeghem, Rick (Michelle) Porazil Jr., Heather (Matt) Stewart and Zach (Melissa) Murphy; eight great-grandchildren Ryan, Zach, Jacob, Destiny, Sadie, Karlee, Maddie, and Aiden; a brother Ron (Pat) Porazil of Belle Plaine, and his beloved pet Sophie. He was preceded in death by his parents and his twin brother Robert Porazil. Memorials may be directed to the family.
