Avenue died Monday, February 11, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center from a brief illness. As per Richard's wishes there will be no services.
Richard was born August 12, 1947 in Burlington, the son of Walter and Barbara Belding Pennington. Richard served for over sixteen years in the Armed Forces. He was a aviation mechanic for many years. He married Rhonda Cunningham on June 12, 2005 in Las Vegas, and they were able to spend five wonderful years together.
Richard is survived by his wife Rhonda; stepdaughter Jennifer Kirby; stepson Walter Cockerham; sister Teresa (Merle) Kuhn; brothers Mike, Gary and Dale Pennington; and nieces.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the nurses and doctors at Mercy Hospital for all of their wonderful care.
