Richard "Butch" Frank Luchinske passed away peacefully at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy on Monday, November 17, 2025 after a courageous battle of stage 4 lung cancer. His generous nature and thoughtful character is still being seen by his final honorable act of donating his body to science through the University of Iowa Deeded Body Program. His hope is that progress may be made in cancer research through his gift.

Butch was a man of many talents.  There was nothing he could not fix, repair, rebuild, or make new again.  He enjoyed old cars, motorcycles, westerns, hunting, fishing, and God's beauty that surrounds us all.

Butch worked as a mechanic most of his life, fixing anything that had an engine and wheels.  He enjoyed getting to know everyone.  He never had an enemy.  To know Butch was to love him.

Butch is survived by the love of his life, Lauri and their daughter, Ashley (Josh) Beck of Belle Plaine. His 3 grandchildren; Larson, Karlee and Gracie who brought him the greatest joy!   He cherished their trips to local parks, playing there for hours, pushing the kids on the swings, and stopping at McDonald's for french fries after hours of fun.

He's also survived by 2 brothers; Jon (Per) Luchinske of Republic, WA, and Tim (Karen) Snell of Hebron, ME and 5 sisters; Sue of Walla Walla, WA, Cindy Michalec of Walla Walla, WA, Sherry (Stephen) Abrams of Hughes Springs, TX, Darla (Joe) Toulouse of Avon Park, FL, and Melanie (Dave) Trca of Springville and his dear friends, Dave & Sue Rhomberg of La Crosse, WI; and many nieces and nephews, of whom he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents Frank Luchinske, and Shirley (Elmer) Snell; and brother Dan.

Butch was a man devoted to family, faith and his freedom.  All who knew him will certainly miss him but never forget him.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Hospice of Mercy who cared for Butch over the last 10 months.  Their kindness and compassion was deeply appreciated.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
