Richard "Dick" L. Koehn, 85, of Mt. Vernon, passed away Sunday, August 8, 2021, at the Lisbon Rehabilitation Center. Celebration of Life services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 14, 2021, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Burial will be in Bertram Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, August 13, 2021, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids.
Richard was born September 18, 1935, in Communion, Iowa, the son of William and Rose Koehn. He graduated from Central of Elkader in 1953. Richard was united in marriage to Ruth Miller on September 22, 1957, in Elkader. Dick and Ruth raised six children in Mount Vernon. He worked at Penick and Ford, and ADM. After retirement he enjoyed gardening, fishing, mushroom hunting, and his horses. He especially enjoyed his family and Dick was the biggest fan of his grandchildren's sporting events and avid Hawkeye fan.
Dick is survived by his children Joy (late Ivan) Kuntz of Martelle, Jay (Theresa) Koehn of Solon, Jeri Koehn (Jeff Moore) of North Liberty, Jim Koehn (Karren Loomis) of Mt. Vernon, Joby (Shawn) Koehn of Florahome, Florida and Janee Koehn of Mt. Vernon; eleven grandchildren Kacey (Andrew) Schmit, Kyle (Taryn) Kuntz, Kaiden (Allison) Kuntz, Mattison (Elias) Randel, Marissa and Marshall(Abby) Koehn, Jack and Austin Koehn, Jacob(Heather) Koehn, Brylee(Brock)Suthers, and Boe Brendes (Shay Gonzalez); eleven great-grandchildren Liam, Maxim and Tatem Schmit, Oscar, Theodore and Winnie Kuntz, Nelly and Preston Randel, Greyson Kuntz, Vynzent Gibson, and Sadie Suthers; brother Edward(Anna Mae) as well as his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ruth, a son-in-law Ivan Kuntz, his brothers, Ray, Alvin, Leo, William Jr, Milford, his sisters Rose, Eileen and Evelyn, two brothers-in-law Lawrence Miller Jr, and Kenneth Miller.
Thank you to the Rehabilitation Center of Lisbon, DaVita Cedar Rapids Dialysis, and Jim Moore his trusty driver.
A memorial has been established.
